ABOUT US
Sidney First Methodist Church is a community of believers. What does that mean, the word community? We believe that together in fellowship we grow closer to God and one another. The Bible speaks about iron sharpening iron. We believe that together we grow stronger. We are a community of believers.
Sidney First Methodist Church strives to be a church without walls. Jesus calls for us to go outside the walls to reach the lost and the broken. It is there that the lost will be found. Sidney First Methodist Church makes an effort to be like the church from the book of Acts, to see our city changed.
Sidney First Methodist Church highly values our relationships with one another. We look to grow through fellowship, and ultimately growing closer to God. We value the word of God, and the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We look to extend grace to all of the lost and broken, and lead those with no hope to the hope of Jesus Christ.
WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION
"To know Christ intimately and to follow Him into the world to make disciples."
OUR VISION
Learning to have an intimate, passionate, life changing relationship with Jesus and sharing His love with all people.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
All relationships in and outside of the church are steeped in love. Love is the demonstration of God’s grace in our lives. Love is how we interact with one another and how the world understands we are disciples of Jesus.
We have been given a spiritual gift that enables us to serve for the common good. It is through service to others that we grow and are effective in our ministry for our church and the community.
People need the Lord and we accept the responsibility to share the good news of Jesus. We go into the world as ambassadors of Jesus, to invite people to be reconciled to God, through the blood of Jesus.
We believe all people are created equally by God. We reject any behavior that does not value an individual as a person of sacred worth. We accept that we are all sinners and are offered forgiveness and new life through the power of the death and resurrection of the cross.
As part of the Wesleyan tradition, we believe that genuine faith is the spiritual growth called holiness, that is a lifelong journey of surrendering to the will of God.
The church was created by Jesus to be the “hope of the world”. Through membership, the local church becomes the center of our mission that will impact the community and fulfill God’s calling to make disciples. Nothing on Earth has greater potential than to change the lives of people.
